Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS clinical coding describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake coding of moderately complex discharge summaries, medical reports and medical records including the selection of the primary diagnosis and sequencing of other diagnoses for coding.

Delivery Method: Course Language: ENGLISH Language only.

1. Distance Learning: Total course study hours: 70 hours access to computer delivered using online Learning Management System directly from HIMAA Australian Education Office.

2. Classroom Based: Total course hours: 40 contact hours over 20 weeks plus completion of course materials, readings and workbook and exercises provided estimated 40 hours to complete in self-directed learning.

Entry Requirement:

A pass > 80% in the HIMAA Introductory ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS clinical coding course within fifteen months of the enrolment date for Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS OR demonstrated prior learning by a pass > 80% in the HIMAA Challenge Examination for Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS clinical coding within fifteen months of the enrolment date for Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS. HIMAA approved candidates only. Candidates for the HIMAA challenge examination for Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS clinical coding should have a minimum of twelve months coding experience using ICD-10-AM in major hospital with medical records generated by an episode of care such as day surgery, planned surgery or simple medical problem and have degrees in Health Information Management from approved international universities.
